Welcome
to the San Francisco State University GISc Help Desk, administered
by the Institute for Geographic Information Science. The IGISc
GISc Help Desk is here to assist the campus GIScience community
with resource, data, and technical questions. The IGISc offers
help in GIS and remote sensing to those who have basic questions.
As we do not have enough staff to cover walk-in or phone questions,
please email your questions to igisc@sfsu.edu,
and we will direct your question to the person who is most
qualified to answer it. Please follow the guidelines
for submitting technical support when contacting the GISc
Help Desk. Please be advised that the help desk is in place
to answer questions about GIS/Remote Sensing for those who
already have a basic knowledge. If you need training, you
should consider signing up for our short courses, or if you
need more specific training, one-on-one tutoring is available
for a fee.
The Help Desk is intended to provide support for both general
GIScience questions and specific questions regarding the technical
use of the following GIS/Remote Sensing software products:
- ArcGIS 8.x/9.x
- ArcGIS Desktop: ArcView
- ArcGIS Desktop: ArcEditor
- ArcGIS Desktop: ArcInfo
- ArcInfo Workstation
- ArcIMS 4.x/9.x
- ArcSDE 9.x
- ArcPad 6.x
- ArcView GIS 3.x
- Leica/ERDAS Imagine 8.x
- Leica Photgrammetry Suite
If you have questions, start by checking the GISc
Knowledge Base, where you will find answers to common
GIScience problems. Users of the Institute for Geographic
information Science may submit GIS/Remote Sensing technical
questions which will be answered within two (2) business days.
All questions and answers will also be included in the GISc
Forum.
Users of the GISc Help Desk are encouraged to provide feedback
on the quality of the service received and the clarity and
usefulness of the responses received. This input will provide
valuable assistance in the further development of the GISc
Help Desk.
