  Faculty/Staff Software Product Availability

As a member campus in the CSU GIS Specialty Center, SFSU participates in license agreements with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), Inc., for GIS. In principle, the SFSU faculty and staff has free access to the listed software products, assume the uses of the software are for non-for-profit uses including: teaching, research and university administration. The license will not, however, cover a project that is for profit, private gain, or other commercial use. Users may need to purchase hardware keys for some software packages. Please contact Debra Dwyer, the SFSU Site License Administrator, or Barry Nickel, Associate Director of the IGISc, on how to obtain software under this agreement. The ESRI software components available are as follows:

  Student Software Product Availability

A special one-year license of ArcView is currently available to full-time and part-time students for $100 and are limited to academic or research use only; commercial use is prohibited. Available for either ArcView 9.0, 8.3 or ArcView 3.3, this license is designed for students who need access to GIS software to complete course assignments or for research projects. The ArcView 9.0, 8.3 version also includes the ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, ArcGIS 3D Analyst, and ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst extensions. The ArcView 3.3 version does not include any extensions.

Student Individual Licenses that do not carry a time limit are available to students for academic or research use for $250. These licenses are held by an individual person and you have to pay extra for each extension. Purchases are limited to one copy of any given software product/release per individual.

Student ordering of software is NOT handled by IGISc staff or the Site License Administrator. SFSU students should order the new products by calling the ESRI Telebusiness Department at 800-447-9778 and selecting the option of pre-sales questions.
