The Department of Geography & Environment, SFSU
The IGISc is currently partnering with SFSU's Department of Geography & Environment on an interdisciplinary research and monitoring project in Sierra Nevada meadows. This is a collaborative effort with our partners in the Sierra Fund. The Department of Geography & Environment's team of faculty include biogeographer Professor Sara Baguskas; remote sensing specialist Professor Leonhard Blesius; GIS specialist and lecturer Quentin Clark; geomorphologist Professor Jerry Davis; hydrologist and water quality specialist Professor Leora Nanus; and climatologist Professor Andrew Oliphant. Our estimated start date is June 1, 2019. This research is made possible through a grant from the California Department of Fish & Wildlife.
Marine & Coastal Conservation and Spatial Planning Lab, SFSU
The IGISc partners with the Marine & Coastal Conservation and Spatial Planning Lab on projects related to marine mammal and seabird habitat modeling. Current work is in collaboration with Point Blue Conservation Science on seabird habitat modeling, habitat risk assessment analysis, and conservation prioritization strategies in the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary.
San Franciso Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve
The San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and the IGISc are expanding their partnership to apply geospatial and low altitude remote sensing techniques to study local tidal wetllands.
